Position Overview
Motion Controls Robotics, Inc. (MCRI) is looking for an experienced service technician for its growing team. The position responsibilities include providing preventative maintenance, electrical service/troubleshooting, and mechanical service/troubleshooting. The ideal candidate will have a strong ability in troubleshooting electrical, mechanical and robotic systems. Must be highly organized, possess a positive attitude, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and have the ability to work well with other team members and customers.
This position is responsible for providing service on equipment at the MCRI facility as well as at customer locations throughout North America. Training opportunities include on-the-job training for an experienced Service Technician, and onsite or internet-based training from the leading provider of robots, FANUC America.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot robot and controller faults by understanding typical robot operations, controller circuitry and major components.
- Ability to identify parts required and repair procedures.
- Ability to work with service team members to provide part numbers and parts quotations needed for repairs as required.
- Utilize online documentation and hardcopy manuals to locate appropriate troubleshooting steps and/or technical information to be sent to internal and external customers or utilized during on-site project coordination.
- Travel to customers’ facilities to provide preventative maintenance and repair services.
- Strong technical communication skills.
- Acts independently yet can work in a team environment.
- Read and comprehend mechanical and electrical drawings.
- Support engineering, manufacturing, and programming departments in testing and debugging equipment.
- Perform basic robot repairs including preventative maintenance, replacement of wiring harnesses, gearboxes as well as basic functions of jogging the robot.
- Work overtime on an as needed basis, involving extra hours during the week, and occasionally Saturdays and Sundays.
- Possess personal organizational skills, follow company procedures and values, maintain documentation in a proper manner.
- Must be punctual, safety conscious, willing to learn, patient, a clear communicator, have a good attitude, and maintain a professional appearance.
Requirements:
- 2+ years mechanical or electrical experience or experience in a related field.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license, have a reliable means to come to work, and have the ability to travel for multiple days to customer sites for repairs and service work.
- Travel required up to 50% of the time.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time, lift up to 50 lbs., bend, push, pull, stoop, stretch, climb, and kneel as needed.
- Must have manual dexterity of fingers to be able to work on machinery, and type information into a computer.
- Must have own basic tools.
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience with FANUC robots, controllers, and troubleshooting.
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
- Basic computer operation and software knowledge.
- Intermediate language and math skills, high level reasoning skills.
