Robot Palletizing Options for Flexibility

Robotic Palletizing Options

Leading the way in robot palletizing flexibility & technology

Palletizing is not always one case, one pattern, and one product. MCRI designs robotic palletizing systems around your product mix, rate requirements, floor space, pallet patterns, safety needs, and end-of-line flow.

Robotic Palletizing

Can, Pail, Barrel & Drum Palletizing

Palletizing cylinders for a variety of industries like paint & chemical, medical, building & construction, and others calls for specific, yet flexible design options.

MCRI can design a system that will handle different products by designing custom end-of-arm tooling, so changeover between drum sizes or load patterns can be easily accomplished by either the operator or through the design of the tooling.

Designed for heavy lifting and consistent handling

Many filled drums or pails are heavy. Having a robot do the heavy lifting can help lower on-the-job injuries related to manual palletizing. The robot’s smooth and consistent movements can also help improve quality and production rates.

Product Variety

Supports different can, pail, barrel, and drum sizes.

Custom Tooling

End-of-arm tooling can be designed around weight, material, and pick style.

Flexible Patterns

Changeover can support different load patterns and product sizes.

Safer Handling

Reduces repeated manual lifting of heavy cylindrical products.

Discuss Pail or Drum Palletizing

One Cell for Drums and Cases

MCRI can design a robot cell that palletizes both drums and cases with the same end-of-arm tooling. This type of cell saves floor space and helps control the rate of both cases and drums. This could be done with large pails and barrels as well.

Paint Can Palletizing

MCRI has worked on multiple cells for palletizing paint cans. These cells offer the flexibility of palletizing sizes as small as tester cans up to larger one-gallon paint cans by using a magnetic gripper.

Bag Palletizing

Implementing a robotic bag palletizing system can help improve consistency, reduce manual handling, and support flexible pallet patterns for a variety of bag sizes.

Built for flexible bag handling

Bag palletizing often requires more than repeatable lifting. The system needs to account for bag size, fill level, product shape, stacking pattern, cycle rate, and how the bag is presented to the robot.

Multiple Bag Sizes

Palletize a variety of bag sizes in one location.

Safer Handling

Help improve employee safety and reduce ergonomic issues caused by repetitive manual lifting.

Custom Tooling

Consistent handling with a custom-designed end-of-arm tool can reduce product damage and dropped bags.

Higher Rates

Flexible, fast systems can increase rates and overall production, with high cycle rates up to 28 robot cycles per minute for bag handling.

Pattern Flexibility

Easy-to-operate systems support variable pattern placement programming and mixed-load pallets.

Floor Space

Robotic bag palletizing systems can help reduce floor space requirements.

Robotic Palletizing

Plastic Palletizing

Robot systems for plastic palletizing need to be flexible and allow for quick changeover. MCRI understands that the plastics and container industry is dynamic, with line changeovers happening each time product orders are filled. In some operations, that can mean dozens of changeovers a day.

Robotics can add reliability, flexibility, and mobility to applications where product sizes, demand, and packaging requirements change often.

Built for fast changeover and product variety

Plastic palletizing systems can be designed to support changing bottle sizes, container styles, accumulation needs, packing requirements, and downstream pallet patterns.

Less Manual Handling

Eliminate manual picking and packing processes for plastic bottles and containers.

Worker Safety

Improve worker safety by reducing repetitive motion and manual handling.

Easier Changeover

Reduce cost by simplifying the process and making changeovers easier to manage.

Product Accumulation

Better plan for product accumulation and product flow around the line.

Consistent Quality

Increase quality with more consistent controls for packing and handling bottles.

Operator Programming

Make it easier for operators to program and run new products.

More than palletizing

MCRI can also help automate related processes such as descrambling, picking, transporting, case packing, and removing bottles from blow molding machines.

Motion Controls Robotics understands these process requirements from working with companies across the plastics and container industry.

Roll palletizing icon

Robotic Palletizing

Roll Palletizing

Rolls come in many sizes and weights and are typically softer products that need more careful handling than some other products we palletize.

Rolls can be removed from winding, slitting, or upstream packaging operations and palletized with the eye in a vertical or horizontal orientation. The system can also be designed with an outfeed conveyor for sorting, quality checks, or product tracking.

Designed around roll handling requirements

MCRI builds custom end-of-arm tooling to push slit rolls from the slitting mandrel, pick rolls by the inner diameter, and palletize the product in a variety of patterns to meet order requirements.

Careful Product Handling

Support softer roll products that require controlled handling and placement.

Eye Orientation

Palletize rolls with the eye in a vertical or horizontal orientation.

Custom Tooling

Use tooling designed to push, pick, and place rolls based on the application.

Pattern Flexibility

Build a variety of pallet patterns to meet product and order requirements.

Add roll securing and product flow options

Shrink wrappers can be added to help secure rolls when pallets are moved out of the cell. Outfeed conveyors can also support sorting, inspection, tracking, or downstream movement.
